ASIAN AROWANA
Asian Arowana or commonly known as Dragon Fish is an endangered species
protected world wide by the Convention In Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES) which make it a rare
and precious fish. For the Arowana to be commercially available Arownana has to be commercially breed for two generations.
It takes 4 years for an Arowana to be sexually mature and as such, it would take years to start commercial production. Besides,
Arowana has low fecundity and only spawns around 30-50 eggs each time, two to three times a year. In addition, premium Arowana
such as Red Arowana and Malaysian Golden (Cross Back) can only be found in a few wild places in South East Asia. This is the
reason why the Asian Arowana is such a high value fish in the market. It is a popular and renowned fish across Asia for
its close resemblance to the traditional Chinese Dragon. It is also believed to be of good Feng Shui and symbolises strength,
prosperity, luck and wealth. These fish have a life span of over 20 years, and are a beautiful investment for the perfect
Aquarium.
